How it works

Most network-connected devices come equipped with a tool known as "ping." This tool checks if a device is active on the network and capable of communication with others.

When you ping a device and it responds, your device shows you how long it took for the reply to come back. This time is usually measured in milliseconds (ms). Most devices also ping multiple times in quick succession to check for packet loss.

Our service pings your site every 60 seconds 24/7 to make sure your device is connected to the internet. It keeps track of response times and packet loss, showing them in a useful graph and table. If your site goes down an email alert is sent to you.

It should be known that PRTG is capable of much more than just pinging devices since it’s a fully fledged monitoring platform. If you have needs for advanced monitoring reach out to us.

SimpleNetMon runs using PRTG. A powerful monitoring solution developed by Paessler.
